Meet Dede
Dede is a Tel Aviv–based multidisciplinary urban artist whose work moves between the street and the gallery, with pieces shown in cities like London, New York, Berlin, and Tel Aviv. He began creating art after his military service and developed his practice at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design. Inspired by the urban landscape and the questions it raises about identity, society, and human behavior, Dede explores the tension between home and away—an idea that shapes both his studio and public work. His pieces often reflect on the absurdities of modern life, using the city itself as both subject and setting.
Rooted in site-specificity, Dede’s work is closely tied to place, materials, and concept. Found objects—such as cardboard, wood scraps, and newspapers—form the basis of his art, chosen for their ability to carry the stories of the environment they come from. He works with collage, assemblage, painting, photography, and installation, often in series that allow him to revisit key ideas over time. For Dede, art is a way to leave something behind—a personal and philosophical mark that asserts meaning and presence in a constantly shifting world.
